Application Process

We are honored by your interest in George Jackson Academy, an all boys school for grades 6-8.

GJA is accepting applications for students entering Grades 6 and 7.

There is no fee to apply for admission or financial aid.

If you have questions about the admissions process, please email admissions@GJAcademy.org  or call 212-228-6789.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1

Submit an Application via TADS

by Saturday, December  12, 2026

Once the online portion of the application has been submitted, you will be prompted to download the Teacher Recommendation and School Transcript request forms. Submit both forms to your student’s current school. Ask the school to return the completed forms to admissions@GJAcademy.org

Although GJA's primary application deadline is December 12, our rolling admission process means that we will continue to accept applications until all seats have been filled.

Step 2

Sit for GJA’s Admission Test

on Saturday, December 12, 2026

GJA administers the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) to identify students who may be a good fit for our rigorous academic program. The OLSAT measures  students’ verbal and quantitative abilities and is one piece of your student's file. There is not a cutoff score. In lieu of the OLSAT, GJA will accept recent SSAT or ISEE results.

Step 3

Apply for Financial Aid*

by Friday, January  8, 2027

After you apply for admission, you may apply for financial aid.  Like most independent schools, George Jackson Academy uses Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS) to develop a recommended family contribution for tuition. TADS provides schools with sound information to help award fair and equitable financial assistance to students.

If your family has already completed the TADS form for another school, please add George Jackson Academy as a subscriber school.

If you have already logged out of TADS, click "Apply for Aid" below to return to TADS. Use the same email address and password you used to start the admission application. Once logged in, click the Financial Aid tab to begin your financial aid application.

Step 4

Attend Simulated School Day

on Thursday, January 14, 2027

Students will participate in classes, complete assessments and engage in a group interview alongside other candidates. Participation is required for admission consideration.

Please note: This is an invitation only event.

Step 5

Admission Decisions and Financial Aid Awards

Admission decisions and financial aid awards will be announced via email on Wednesday, February 10, 2027, at 4 PM. To ensure timely review, all required materials for each application must be submitted by the respective deadlines.

GJA will accept admission and financial aid applications after the deadline, as long as there are still seats available.

NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY

George Jackson Academy adheres to a long standing policy of admitting students of any race, color, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the School. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid or other school-administered programs.
