Application Process

We are honored by your interest in George Jackson Academy, an all boys school for grades 6-8. GJA is accepting applications for students entering Grades 6 and 7.

If you have questions about completing the application, please contact TADS customer support at 800-477-8237, Monday through Friday, 9AM-7PM. TADS is also available via email at tads-support@communitybrands.com.

Questions about GJA?  Please email admissions@georgejacksonacademy.org or call 212-228-6789.

There is no fee to apply for admission or financial aid.

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1

Submit an Application via TADS

Once the online portion of the application has been submitted via TADS, you will be prompted to download the teacher recommendation and school transcript request forms. Submit both forms to your student’s current school to complete. Ask the school to return the forms to admissions@georgejacksonacademy.org

Seats are still available for the 2024-2025 school year.  Applications are reviewed year-round as space permits.

Step 2

Apply for Financial Aid

After you apply for admission, you may also apply for financial aid.  Like most independent schools, George Jackson Academy uses Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS) to develop a recommended family contribution for tuition. TADS provides schools with sound information to help award fair and equitable financial assistance to students. If your family has already completed the TADS form for another school, please add George Jackson Academy as a subscriber school.

Step 3

Sit for GJA’s Admission Test

GJA administers the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) to identify students who may be a good fit for our rigorous academic program. The OLSAT measures  students’ verbal and quantitative abilities and is one piece of your son’s file. There is not a cutoff score.

In lieu of the OLSAT, GJA will accept SSAT or ISEE results

Step 4

Attend Simulated School Day

Applicants will experience first hand a day in the life of a GJA scholar. In addition to participating in lessons, the day will also include a group interview. Please note: This is an invitation only event.

Step 5

Admission Decisions and Financial Aid Awards

Admission decisions and financial aid awards will be announced together pending the timely submission of the admission and financial aid applications, as well as all required documents.

NON-DISCRIMINATORY POLICY

George Jackson Academy adheres to a long standing policy of admitting students of any race, color, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin to all the rights and privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the School. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sexual orientation, national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid or other school-administered programs.
